Gabrielė Biering-Žemaitytė

Gabrielė Biering-Žemaitytė was born in 1973 in Vilnius. Currently she lives and creates in Germany, Berlin. In 1990 she graduated from Juozas Naujalis art school, in Kaunas, in 1994 she graduated from private Lithuanian gymnasium Baden Wurrttemberg in Germany. In 1995-1999 she was studying art history at Regina Pacis university in Bona, Germany. Since 2000 she has been working a creative work as a free artist in Berlin, Germany.

In professional art website artist Gabrielė Biering-Žemaitytė presents minimalist sculptures, created in 2014-2016. The artist creates sculptures by using materials such as clay, glaze and gold. In the sculptures of Gabrielė Biering-Žemaitytė a considerable attention is paying to human figure‘s shape and various details. In the author‘s creation work stylized and very important connection with nature and children opens. In these sculptures a lot of attention is paid to decorativeness, gilded details and symbols, composed in little sculptures, give the decorativeness. The works are called poetic names such as “Crowned“, “Hag with child“, “Fortune teller“, “Travel“, “Hope“, “Mother with child“, “Flowered“, “Dreaming“, “Dressed up“, “Head“, “Song to earth“. In each sculpture the artist presents still different motive. Although, sculpture motives have many connections with Lithuanian mythology, however, some golden color details expose a connection with East culture traditions too.
