Photo artist Rymantas Penkauskas was born in 1953. He completed his studies at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) in 1977. He has been as a freelancer photographer since 1993. The Art Creator Status is granted to this artist. His main activities are artistic and advertising photography.

The photographs of the artist are published in various publications. Rymantas Penkauskas co-operates with publishing houses and institutions ‘‘Šviesa‘‘, ‘‘Tyto Alba‘‘, ‘‘Alma Littera‘‘, ‘‘Baltos lankos‘‘ etc. The art works of the artist have been bought by private persons, also, various institutions of culture and art in Lithuania and abroad. R. Penkauskas have earned many international awards: the 1st place in category of still life in the contest of Soviet Union Krasnoyarsk in 1989; the jury award in the international exhibition under the auspices by UNESCO ‘‘Humanity Photo Awards 2009‘‘ in China for the creation and the performance of Lithuanian folk national costume conception of the photographs in 2009; the silver medal in the international biennial under the auspices by UNESCO ‘‘TashkentAle 2010‘‘ for the creation and the performance of Lithuanian folk national costume conception of the photographs in 2010; the documentary award for the series of photographs ‘‘Kryžių kalnas‘‘ in the international exhibition ‘‘Humanity Photo Awards 2011‘‘ under the auspices by UNESCO in China in 2011.

The artist has participated in 13 sectional exhibitions and has organized 4 solo exhibitions in famous Lithuanian and foreign galleries.
